Senpai Allan Heaton
Instructor, Club Director
I have always been interested in martial arts since I was a young boy. I took Shotokan Karate when I was 14 years old and couldn’t understand the value of it until much later in my life. In between that time I studied Muay Thai, MMA, Jiu Jitsu, and Okinawan Karate styles before coming full circle to Traditional Shotokan Karate. For a long time I was only interested in the fighting aspect of the martial systems more than the art itself and couldn’t fully benefit from the training. When I finally made the decision to train all aspects of the art, I was then able to really begin learning. It is an honor to be a student of Hanlon Sensei, provide instruction at this dojo, and be part of an awesome group of Karateka. I am a very technical person by nature and thus my focus on training can be very technical sometimes.
