What is the significance of belt color?


Answer:

Traditionally, the beginner starts with a white belt, working his/her way to black belt. As the student advances, the belt colors are in the order of white, yellow, orange, green, two purple, three browns, and then black.

Regional and national instructors give ranking examinations approximately four times a year. The exam fee is $35.00.

Students testing need to become members of the American Amateur Karate Federation (A.A.K.F.). Initial membership costs $25.00 with annual renewal fee of $25.00. All color belts are registered national and black belts are registered internationally.
